I started with my first Irish Setter in 1973. I was living in Palmerston North at the time and joined the local Obedience Club and was then persuaded to go to my first show. From then on I was committed to the breed and to the showring. I became a committee member of the Manawatu All Breeds Club and remained on that club until I moved to Auckland in 1979.
In 1979 I joined the committee of the Irish Setter Club and have been on that committee ever since.
I am also on the committee of Waitemata Gundog Club and The Setter Club as is Paul.
Paul moved back to New Zealand in 1996 and re established his Robwyn Pointers. Together we have established our respective kennels on an 11 acre property in Runciman, South Auckland.
Both of our kennels have achieved success over the years with 'Lanascol'
having bred 'Irish Setter of the Year' for the past 14 years and 'Robwyn' having bred Pointer of the year for 2001 and 2002.
We have both imported different bloodlines from a few countries over the years and hope to continue to do so to ensure that our respective gene pools are not limited by what is available in New Zealand.
I am licensed to judge Gundogs (Sporting), Working Dogs (Pastoral), Hounds, Toys and Terriers at Championship shows whilst Paul is licensed to judge Gundogs (Sporting) at Championship Shows and All Groups at Open Show level.
Over the years I have met some wonderful people involved with our Irish Setters and hope to be in contact with many more through this website.
Please read the history of my Irish Setters.
I am delighted you have visited our site and I would welcome further contact, or a visit at some point in the future. We hope we will hear from you soon.
